This project was a collaborative project that we did across a number of year groups for display on arts week.
We started the lesson looking at some examples of stained glass windows in both churches and Mosques. The pupils then discussed why they thought the windows were so effective at catching the light.
We then looked at how we could create the same effect.
Using tracing paper, pupils began to do their design with pencil. Then when happy with the design the added colour with marker. I found that limiting access to black made the work really stand out. After each pupil was complete, we taped it all together and displayed it on one of our large windows.
I found that the pupils managed to finish an A4 sheet in a double lesson. So, if you are doing this as a one off lesson, or you only have a single lesson to complete it, I would recommend an A5 sheet size
With all the change that teachers are implementing in their classrooms, isn’t now the time to increase collaboration opportunities, be they formal or informal? - Check out some of the collaboration we have been involved with this year.
