Today we were learning to:
Identify the style of Pop Artists.
Understand abstract art and how to abstract an image.
Use the style of Pop Art to begin an abstract design.
Recall how we can use art to influence how we think about things in life.
Today we are learning to:
For our abstracted Pop Artworks we took influence from popular logos. We overlapped, layered and change the scale to abstract each logo, students used ipads, phones and laptops to research their own logo designs to personalize their artwork. These designs will then be completed using mixed medias. I hope this has opened a few students eyes to how we can use everything around us to create art.
Assessment for Learning
'This week we worked on tables to create our 'design success criteria'. Students were really good at identifying what they needed to do to progress and building on these in a matrix from pink to amber and then to green and blue. I was surprised how different classes varied in expectations of the outcome.
We then created a word document that identified these selected success criteria and I individualized these for the next lesson, adding comments and ways to progress.
Students loved having feedback this early in the project and spent the whole lesson working to complete their targets and improve their designs.
During plenary all students were able to identify what makes a successful composition and all built on their targets.
