This week I started my second ASA (After school activity) This term I thought I would try and introduce Fashion and textiles to the pupils of MTS.
Previously I have ran a fashion Academy. This involved schools from around the area working to a fashion brief or title, to produce a garment. Students would have artist days where a local designer would be invited in to speak with the students about designing their own clothes, they would then help with the manufacture for one workshop day.
We would have about six months to produce our school collection, and then all schools would show their garments off in a big Fashion catwalk show. This is an amazing opportunity and the pupils were literally buzzing after the show.
The more the supplies grow I would love to roll out the same experience here in Dubai.
I am lucky to work for a network of schools so who knows it could become a GEMS event soon!
