This week we moved away from portraits and looked at Chinese and Greek pottery. Students identified different shapes and patterns and selected one to complete themselves. They sketched out the designs using lone of symmetry and ellipses. They then used oil pastels to colour their vase, using a range of tones to create a 3D effect. When they had done this they painted over the oil pastel with white or black paint and used a stick to scratch pattern and detail into their vase. Students really enjoyed learning this technique and were amazed when the colour came through the paint.
Hello everybody, my name is Lyanne Fellows. I am a mum to an 8 year old boy and five year old boy and girl twins. Before moving back to the North East I worked in Dubai as a teacher of Art and Graphic Design and acting Head of Department. This was a move prompted by having twins and not wanting to give up my teaching job. Before having my twins I was head of art and a teacher trainer working for 6 years with a cluster of academies in the Midlands. I am now doing cover work in Newcastle upon Tyne and looking out for a position that is right for me to develop and share my vision with. I am really excited for another fun filled year.
