Throughout Dubai Design Week, there was a diverse programme of keynote speeches, panel discussions, public performances and educational workshops that allowed our students the opportunity to discover and engage with design. It was a free-to-attend programme and served as a rich introduction to the design scene in the UAE, and built on the many events and exhibitions that were happening throughout the week and beyond. Dubai’s design community showcased the best of the city’s creativity through an extensive programme of design-dedicated events. Various activities throughout the week were hosted by local retailers, design brands, restaurants, universities and institutions, creative studios and galleries also offered visitors the chance to attend workshops, launches and exhibitions, film screenings and more. The GCSE Art students loved seeing where art could lead you and how other creative minds were working. I hope this has opened their eyes to many possibilities for their future careers.
Hello everybody, my name is Lyanne Fellows. I am a mum to an 8 year old boy and five year old boy and girl twins. Before moving back to the North East I worked in Dubai as a teacher of Art and Graphic Design and acting Head of Department. This was a move prompted by having twins and not wanting to give up my teaching job. Before having my twins I was head of art and a teacher trainer working for 6 years with a cluster of academies in the Midlands. I am now doing cover work in Newcastle upon Tyne and looking out for a position that is right for me to develop and share my vision with. I am really excited for another fun filled year.
