WALT: To become comfortable using a warm and cool colour scheme.
1. Discuss warm and cool colours with your pupils. Where do we find these colours in nature? Where do we find them on the colour wheel?
2. Show a demonstration using chalk pastel techniques ( I found that this was a great first chalk pastel project; which works well on different scales).
3. First draw a basic drawing of a sunrise and a wavy sea (with patterns). Fill the sun with warm colours (do not colour over the outlines of the patterns). Cool colours for the sea. Pupils can be creative (I had 2 pupils draw whales in the water; and a few draw ships and birds).
