Each year the Global Education & Skills Forum brings together world leaders from the public, private and social sectors seeking solutions to achieving education, equity and employment for all.
Over two days, 1,600 delegates at the Global Education & Skills Forum share, debate and shape new ways for education to transform our world.
An initiative of the Varkey Foundation, the Global Education & Skills Forum is an essential platform for collaboration and problem solving - taking ‘how it should be’ forward into innovative, multi-stakeholder ‘how do we get there?’
This year I have volunteered, with other art teachers from GEMS schools to deliver two days of Art workshops to the delegates. This event will be held at the Atlantis so at the moment we are trialing workshops that will be easy to deliver in a 50 minute time slot with limited access to cleaning and water.
Our brief/theme is Alice in Wonderland so all of our workshops have to be linked to this. Wile meeting about this I was also introduced to Sphero, http://www.sphero.com/education a mini robot controlled by a smart phone or tablet. I loved this idea and will definitely be pitching it to school when I get in tomorrow!
These printing workshops were with a mixture of ages, using poly print and lino to recreate an image or pattern of your choice. We then used a range of coloured back grounds to print onto. I was really impressed with the outcomes and they were such fun workshops.
